Typography

Typography plays an important role in the HFCL identity system. We use an engineered, malleable, and precise type family, Neue Haas Grotesk, to connect emotionally and converse rationally with our broad customer base.

Neue Haas Grotesk

One family font is used across our range of communications:
Neue Haas Grotesk Display Pro.

Typography is a core element for our visual look and feel. It’s used to deliver information with clarity and legibility, and gives character and personality to our brand.

Weights & Styles

To ensure a consistent tone, we primarily use Roman typeface. Medium and Bold weights are reserved for specific web applications, such as highlighting content in articles and other key instances.

Alignment

Flush left creates strong alignments for the eye to follow, aiding readability and organization. It is our typographic standard because it is functional, timeless, and most legible.

Leading

Most headlines should appear as Neue Haas Grotesk Display Pro and be set in sentence case. The leading should be set to 120% with 0% tracking.

Thoughtful body copy typesetting makes text blocks look better. More importantly, it makes them easier to read. Use Roman for subheadlines and long form copy, with a leading of 150%

Hierarchy Sizing

Size, scale, and position all play a factor in how information is read. Ensure there is a purposeful difference between different type sizes.

Increments of 4 are applied.

Spacing

For a clean and balanced layout, use consistent spacing equal to the height of the smallest text element (1x) between titles, headings, and body text.
